If you are interested in dance you might have already heard of the Billingham International Folklore Festival of World Dance which will take place soon.

The Billingham International Folklore Festival of World Dance which is scheduled to take place next month will bring to you cultures and dances from across the globe in a week of exciting program of events. You will be able to discover the talented performers who will perform their best and represent their tradition and culture in the best possible way.

You will be able to discover dancers and see groups from various countries across the world: Brazil, Chile, China, Mexico, the Philippines, Sicily, Serbia, Usa, but to name a few. They are all coming in the week ahead of the festival and will represent their traditional dances on the folklore festival which has become an important part of art and culture and which will only attract more visitors in years to come. The festival has yet to reach its peak of popularity. Olga Maloney, artistic director of the festival said: “The festival is a spectacular display and celebration of dance from performers around the world and we hope this year will be our most successful yet.”

Olga Maloney said: “Over 200 dancers from all corners of the globe will arrive in the coming weeks and we’re already seeing tickets for the various shows selling well.”

The events and concerts will take place in the Billingham town centre: Middlesbrough Town Hall Crypt, Middlesbrough Theatre and Billingham Forum, of course the majority of events will be held at the Festival Arena situated at the very center of Billingham.

The core funding for the upcoming Billingham International Folklore Festival of World Dance has been provided by Stockton Borough Council which has funded the festival’s contemporary elements. Also, another interesting fact is that the festival also has an initiative supported by Awards for All which will bring dancers into care homes in the area and bring some dance and inspiration to those who might not be able to visit the festival.
